To our Home and Daycare!

Hi! My name is Deb or Debby. (The kids usually call me Debby, and adults call me Deb ~ either is fine) I have been a licensed daycare provider in wonderful land of 10,000 lakes ~ Minnesota, since 1981. Yes, you guessed it. . .I LOVE KIDS!!! I have two grown sons, Michael and Mark. They are the reasons I became a daycare provider; little did I know that I would love it this much! The name I chose for my daycare is Debby's Giggles and Wiggles Childcare. I chose that name because we have so much fun and spend alot of time giggling and wiggling ** he * he * he **. We are licensed for up to 14 children, but maintain a number of about 7 or 8 children a day.

I am a Head Start Provider, have earned my CDA credential, provide a preschool program and the bestest, yummiest meals :-) The lower level is primarily the daycare area and we have a huge fenced in playyard with swingsets, climbing toys, riding toys and of course a monster sized sandbox. We also provide tons of toys and books indoors as well, and also a computer that the daycare children can use to play learning games.

We want to be an important stepping stone in a child's life. Yes, We love kids and hugs from kids are the best!!!

I started doing daycare shortly after my youngest (Mark) was born. We had just moved here, and jobs were scarce for me, so I was a SAHM for a while. A friend of a friend asked me to watch her child, the same age as my oldest son, (Michael) so I did. They became best friends at the age of 3. I thought, hey, this is pretty cool, stay at home with my guys, and watch them play with other kids, and earn an income at the same time!

At the time, there was a huge need for daycares, so my daycare was full almost immediately. We moved to a larger home, so then my daycare could grow as well. I intended to quit doing daycare when my youngest was in lst grade, but when that time came, I realized that I really loved my job. I liked being home when my kids weren't in school. I enjoyed having kids around and being silly with them at times. So, I stuck to it. 24 yrs later, I'm still enjoying the joys of daycare providing and intend to continue for as long as possible. :O)

In July of 2001, my fiancee, Craig, began working with me as a 2nd adult caregiver. It worked out so well, that he decided to get licensed and work together with me full time.

Since we were going to the most romantic place on earth, we decided to get married in Hawaii. We were married next to a tropical waterfall on June 18th 2002. Click on the maypole below to see the pictures of our wedding.

Its all like a dream come true, but it is a reality and we are enjoying this time in our lives together. We plan to continue to work together doing childcare for a long, long time. It is great to have another adult to share ideas with, talk over concerns with, and help!

We live in a smallish town in East Central Minnesota, which is known for it's Vasaloppet CC Ski Race each February. It is located an hour north of Minneapolis and 90 miles south of Duluth. I enjoy skiing, but have never attempted the race ~ maybe some day? We also enjoy birdwatching, bikeriding, camping, snowmobiling, plus a whole lot of other outdoor activities. We love being outdoors! In the fall, when Craig is hunting, I enjoy weaving baskets, and making quilts during my quiet time. Some day I'll make a page for our hobbies!

Now that both of my sons are grown and gone, there is plenty of room at home. Thankfully the daycare children have kept the spirit of the home alive. Michael and Mark were both serving in the U.S. Army. Mike was stationed in Germany, and Mark was stationed in Hawaii. Craig and I spent 10 days in Germany in June of 2001, touring the country and visiting Mike. We had a wonderful time and definitely are planning on returning. Our next trip was to Hawaii in June 2002 to visit Mark, which is when we were married! More about Michael and Mark on the next pages.

Some of our favorite hobbies and past-times are: snowmobiling, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, camping, biking and traveling. Living in the land of 10,000 lakes, there is plenty of outdoor activities to keep us busy (you never hear the word bored around here!). I also enjoy listening and playing music, weaving baskets, flower gardening, and quilting. Craig's hobbies include bowhunting and rifle hunting in the fall, as well as birdwatching, camping, biking and traveling. He has also done some awesome landscaping around the yard. He has built two large ponds in the front yard. We have even had complete strangers stop and take pictures of them because they admire them so much!

What a Wonderful World
Louis Armstrong

I see trees of green, red roses too
I see them bloom for me and you
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

I see skies of blue and clouds of white
The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night
And I think to myself what a wonderful world.

The colors of the rainbow so pretty in the sky
Are also on the faces of people going by
I see friends shaking hands saying how do you do
They're really saying I love you.

I hear babies crying, I watch them grow
They'll learn much more than I'll never know
And I think to myself what a wonderful world
Yes I think to myself what a wonderful world.

Where would you like to go?

Thank you for visiting my website, please take a moment to sign my guestbook. THANK YOU!
